Free Range British Chicken* (25%), Water, Tomato, Onion, Carrot, British Spelt (Gluten) (7%), Almond Flakes, Apricots, Garlic, Honey, Ginger, Vegetable Stock [Sea Salt, Yeast Extract, Rice Flour, Onion, Celery, Carrot, Parsley, Turmeric], Salt, Coriander, Parsley, Cumin, Paprika, Turmeric, Black Pepper, Cayenne Pepper, Cinnamon.

 

*We slow roast the free range British chicken, before shredding by hand, then adding to the tagine.

The word 'tagine' comes from the conical Persian earthenware dish in which this stew is traditionally cooked.

The use of ceramics in Moroccan cooking was most likely introduced by the Romans. When? Well, probably during the Roman times.

 

 

The British chicken we use in this tagine is, naturally, free range.

 

If the chickens are happy, then we're happy. (They don't look happy, but then it's hard to smile with a beak. Try it sometime.)

This delicious, nutty flavoured supergrain is high in fibre (reducing cholestrol), rich in protein and has a low G.I. count. It's packed with vitamins and minerals (like zinc: important in controlling blood sugar levels) and has special carbohydrates that strengthen body tissue and stimulate the immune system. And it can be eaten by many people with wheat intolerance too. It's all good.

Storage

 

Keep refrigerated below 5°C.

Once opened, consume within 2 days.

 

SUITABLE FOR HOME FREEZING. If freezing, consume within 3 months and allow extra time for heating.

 

 

Heating

 

MICROWAVE (850W Cat.E):

Remove sleeve and lid. Rest lid loosely on top. Heat for 3½ minutes on full power, stirring halfway through. Allow to stand for 1 minute.

As microwave powers vary, please check manufacturer's instructions.

 

HOB:

Empty contents into a saucepan.

Warm on a medium heat, stirring occasionally, until piping hot (usually 5 - 6 minutes).

Delicious - lovely rich, spicy flavour and a good mixture of textures. Far superior to any of the other microwave pot lunches I've taken to work.

This was delicious. Would be a really warming, hearty treat for a work day, especially in the winter. I served it with some couscous and veggies and it served three!

Every pot this company makes is really great, but this is one of my favourites - Really hearty, full of slivered almonds, shredded chicken, and whole spelt. It's nice to see someone using some chicken dark meat, too, instead of only bland breast meat that you find everywhere else. So the chicken actually tastes chicken-y.
